Becca - the breast cancer support app

Important update: We have made the difficult decision to close the Becca app on 3 February 2026. Until then, current users can continue to use the app as normal. Learn more about the closure below.

Saying goodbye to Becca

Since 2017, our Becca app has been your pocket companion helping you navigate your breast cancer experience. Launched by Breast Cancer Care and funded for its first 3 years by the Big Lottery Fund, Becca was designed to provide trustworthy information and tips for anyone living with or beyond primary breast cancer.

From help with side effects to ideas for living a healthier lifestyle, we’re incredibly proud of the support Becca has provided. We’re especially proud of the real-life stories shared on the app, which helped so many of you feel less alone.

But 8 years on, the way we use our phones is very different. From quicker Google searches to smarter AI assistants, a standalone app isn’t the best way to help you get the information you need any more.

As a charity, it’s important that we use our time and money where it will do the most good. That means adapting and focusing our resources on supporting people in the ways that work for them today. That’s why we’ve made the difficult decision to close the Becca app on 3 February 2026.

We're still here for you

The app is coming to an end, but our commitment to you isn’t.

There's other ways we can support you and help you to live well with and beyond breast cancer:

  • For medical worries: Our helpline allows you to speak directly to a specialist nurse for free, confidential support with side effects or symptoms
  • For daily guidance: Our accredited health information is always up-to-date and covers everything from managing side effects to emotional wellbeing
  • For shared experiences: You can still find real-life stories and connect with people who get it on our Forum and personal stories
  • For support services: We run groups, courses and events where you can meet other people going through the same thing and get the support you need

FAQs

  • Why is the Becca app closing?

We regularly review all our services to make sure we’re supporting people in the best way possible. And Becca has been a great tool, but the number of people using it has dropped as people have started finding support in different ways. By closing the app, we can direct our money and time to our other services – like our helpline and support services – that are reaching and helping more people every day.

  • When will the app close?

The app will officially close on 3 February 2026. Until then, you can continue to log in and use the app as normal. After that date, the app will no longer work.

  • What will happen to my Becca account and data?

We take your privacy very seriously. Once the app closes, your personal Becca account will be deactivated. All personal user data stored within the app system will be securely and permanently deleted. You do not need to do anything to make this happen, we will handle it for you.

  • Can I request my data before it’s deleted?

Yes. Read how you can delete your Becca account and any personal data you have stored.

  • Will I still be able to access my tips and favourite content?

No. Once the app closes in February, you won’t be able to log in to see your saved favourites or history. If there are specific articles, recipes or tips you love, take a screenshot of them on your phone or write them down before then so you can keep them.

  • Are you replacing Becca with another app?

No, we’re not launching a replacement app. Instead, we’re focusing on making our website and existing services as good as they can be.

  • Where can I find similar support now?

We have lots of ways for you to get more personal, detailed and interactive support than the app could provide:

  • I use Becca regularly. What should I do?

Please continue to use the app until 3 February 2026. In the meantime, we encourage you to try out the other support services we offer. If you have saved content in Becca, please remember to save it elsewhere (by taking a screenshot or making a note) before the app closes.

  • How will I be informed about the closure?

We are sending an email to all current Becca users, and we will also display a notification within the app itself so everyone is aware of the timeline.

  • Will this affect any of your other services?

No. This change only affects the Becca app. All our other services such as the helpline, website, and support services are running as normal and are there for you whenever you need them.
