Running for breast cancer now gave me the determination to reach the end.
Prefer to get around on two wheels? Join one of the largest road events in the world, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, ride through the beautiful streets of Edinburgh (at night!), or even take on an international challenge and cycle from London to Paris. Whatever route you choose, we'll be here to support you every pedal of the way.
I always choose to do one main event for charity a year and a 100 mile ride was a big enough challenge to encourage people to sponsor me. I chose to ride for Breast Cancer Now in 2015 because I'd had three recent connections with breast cancer. My cousin’s wife is a survivor largely due to her persistence to be diagnosed; another cycling friend got diagnosed last year whilst I was training and was going through chemo (now through and clear so far); and my best friend's mum sadly died of breast cancer last July. It was an honour to feel that I was riding in memory of her.
Walks and Treks
If you're looking for a slower pace for your fundraising challenge, why not join one of our walks or treks. From Devon to Wales to the Yorkshire Dales, our walks will take you along stunning coastal paths, past historical landmarks and even up a mountain – or three! Take a look at our full list of walks and treks to find out more.
I [walked for Breast Cancer Now] last year with Walkwise and the team were fantastic; looking out for the group and providing support and encouragement for myself and my friends. If you choose to come on your own or in a group they'll make you feel very welcome.
If it's a team challenge you're after and you're prepared to get seriously muddy, look no further than Tough Mudder: 10-12 miles of obstacles that will put your physical fitness and mental grit to the test. And, if you're not ready for the full challenge, you can try it out in half the distance with Tough Mudder half.
I had the most awesome experience completing Tough Mudder and met some amazingly inspirational people along the way. Looking forward to Tough Mudder 2017!
Ready for the challenge of a lifetime? Taking part in a skydive really is an unforgettable experience. You'll be flown to dizzying heights of 10,000 feet before freefalling through the air at over 120mph, all while in the safe hands of a professional parachute instructor. Take a look at our available jump sites or join our flagship skydive, the Big Pink Jump.
I lost my daughter-in-law to breast cancer three years ago. I decided to do a sky dive last year, something I've always wanted to do, although at aged 63 I was a little apprehensive. I had a great experience and would recommend anyone to go for it!
