Due to the weather conditions, the race organisers have unfortunately cancelled Bath Half 2018. Our Challenge Events team is calling and emailing participants, so if you were planning to run then we’ll be in touch soon if we haven’t already. Please find some answers to key questions below.

Bath half marathon cancelled

Are they reorganising it? / what if I can’t take part on the new date? / what happens now?

The event unfortunately is not going to be rearranged for this year. Here is some information from the event organisers: “Sadly, it is not possible to simply postpone the race to a future date. A big ‘closed road’ participation event such as ours can’t be easily re-scheduled, it is not like re-booking a spectator event in a fixed venue. To re-schedule we would need to re-run stakeholder consultations, road closures, public notice periods, re-book specialist contractors and volunteers which takes a huge amount of forward planning to organise. Also, any new date might not suit participants who have specifically prepared for 4 March.”

What happens to my entry fee and sponsorship?

Guaranteed place runners: We can of course offer to refund your entry fee or defer you to next year’s event. If any of your sponsors would like a refund on their sponsorship, then they would just need to get in touch with Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving to sort this out.

Ballot place runners: Here is a notice from Bath Half – “We will be offering all registered entrants a full refund on their race entry. There is no need for runners to contact us to request a refund and we will endeavour to process refunds as soon as we possibly can. Please bear with us while we work with our registration providers to get an automated refund process in place. A further announcement updating runners on the status and timing of refunds will be issued next week.”

Do you support the decision to cancel the event?

Yes, we do. Our biggest priority is to make sure that you are safe and that is the most important thing to us. The race organisers do not come to this decision easily and it is done with your safety in mind. If you have any additional questions, please call the Events Team on 0207 025 2483 or email events@breastcancernow.org.
