Scottish Young Lawyers have a ball of a time for breast cancer research

More than two hundred young lawyers from across Scotland attended the black-tie event, which is one of the most popular social fixtures in the Scottish legal calendar.

The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association (SYLA) generously donated all of the money raised to the medical research charity Breast Cancer Now, who support nearly 450 of the world’s brightest researchers at more than 20 locations across the UK and Ireland.

Lucy Thornton, who is a solicitor at Digby Brown LLP and one of the organisers of the fundraising event, said:

“The SYLA were delighted to support such a fantastic cause at our Spring Ball and I would like to thank our members for donating so generously to help fight this awful disease. Everyone knows someone affected by breast cancer so it’s crucial that we continue to support vital research which will save lives.”

Mary Allison, Director for Scotland at Breast Cancer Now, said:

“We really appreciate the hard work of all of our dedicated supporters. We believe that by 2050 no one who develops breast cancer will die from it. And we believe that research holds the key. It is down to the hard work of inspiring supporters like the SYLA that we can invest in life-saving breast cancer research, and together we are determined to stop breast cancer taking the women we love.”
