About the walk

With two different routes on offer, you can tailor your weekend to suit your ability. Choose our skyline trek if you want to test yourself on the dizzying heights of the Lake District. Or for a simpler (but by no means flat!) option, take on the Borrowdale Circuit, following a variety of paths and tracks conquering some of the lower Lakeland Fells.

The challenge

The Lake District Skyline Challenge

The Lake District Challenge is based in the heart of the Lake District in the Borrowdale Valley.  The 2 day, 20-mile challenge is to complete the skyline circuit of the Borrowdale Valley. The Challenge makes its way through the Lakeland fells to and explores some remote areas. It follows some rough hill paths and a good level of fitness is required.

Day One: Saturday

Derwent Bank, Cat Bells, Maiden Moor and High Spy to Rosthwaite

Distance: 10 miles (15.5km) with  2350ft (750m) ascent

Day Two: Sunday

Rosthwaite, Jopplety Howe, Watendlath Walla Crag and Keswick

Distance: 10 miles (15.5km) with  2150ft (700m) ascent

The Lake District Borrowdale Circuit

If the Skyline challenge sounds like too much climbing, then the Borrowdale Circuit may be the one for you.  This lovely challenge circumnavigates the stunning Borrowdale Valley in the heart of the Lake District.  It is by no means flat but it does reach the dizzy heights of the Skyline Challenge. Instead it follows a variety of paths and tracks and conquers some of the lower Lakeland Fells.

Day One: Saturday

Derwent Bank, Derwent Water, Grange, Castle Crag to Rosthwaite

Distance: 10 miles (16km) with  1250ft (400m) ascent

Day Two: Sunday
