What is Afternoon Tea?
Afternoon Tea is one of Breast Cancer Now’s longest running and most loved events!
This year our Afternoon Teas will have to look quite different. But that doesn’t mean they won’t be hugely impactful!
Your Afternoon Tea will be a chance to join together and raise vital funds for breast cancer research and care. Whether that means holding a tea in your garden, a park, or even a virtual tea, every Afternoon Tea will help to make sure we can be there to support anyone affected by breast cancer today, and give that much-needed hope for the future.
But, most importantly, however you want to host your tea we all need to make sure we follow the latest government coronavirus advice so we can all stay safe and well.
Register today for your fundraising pack and start planning your unique tea.

If you haven’t used an online giving page, here are two ways to pay in:
Pay in by card: make your donation on our website or call us on 0333 20 70 300 to make your donation over the phone.
Pay in by cheque: you can write us a cheque made payable to ‘Breast Cancer Now’ and send it to: Freepost AFTERNOON TEA (no other address line needed). Make sure you include your paying in slip at the bottom of this letter and make a note to let us know that you took part in Afternoon Tea. Please note that because of the pandemic our office is closed and cheque processing will take much longer than usual. If possible we strongly advise making your donation using our online form.
Pay in at the bank: you can use the paying in slip in your fundraising kit. Just bring the slip and your funds to any high-street bank, it will then come straight to us.
Thank you so much for taking part in Afternoon Tea! If you’ve got some, please do send in your pictures from the day! We always love seeing what our supporters do for us.

What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a great way of increasing the value of your donation at no cost to yourself.
Anyone who is a UK income tax payer can reclaim the basic rate of tax on their donation, which means that for every £1 donated, Breast Cancer Now will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that you have given.
It doesn’t cost you a penny more and the additional support will help to fund Breast Cancer Now’s vital work; making a difference to the lives of even more people affected by breast cancer.
So please keep your Gift Aid form with your collection box and remember to encourage everyone who donates at your Afternoon Tea to tick the Gift Aid column on your Gift Aid form and provide their full name, house number and postcode (home address only please).
To qualify for Gift Aid you must be a UK tax payer and pay an amount of Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax each tax year (6 April – 5 April) at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify.
If you are the person organising an Afternoon Tea, please note that HMRC do not allow Gift Aid claims of one total amount that you have collected in and added to the form. Please encourage anyone who has donated to your collection to add their details to the Gift Aid form for the individual amount they donated.
Please remember that Gift Aid can only be claimed on donations, so if you’re raising money by selling tickets to your Afternoon Tea or by selling cakes or raffle tickets, these will not apply, so please do not add these fundraising activities to your Gift Aid form.
To find out more about Gift Aid, visit the HMRC website.
You can let us know at any time whether you are eligible for Gift Aid or not by getting in touch with our Supporter Engagement Team on 0333 20 70 300.
What if I don’t feel like doing an Afternoon Tea this year? Can I contribute in a different way?
We completely understand that it may not feel like the right time to be organising an Afternoon Tea for Breast Cancer Now.
At a time when taking care of yourself and your loved ones is a top priority, we urge you to follow the latest advice issued by the UK government and the NHS on coronavirus (COVID-19). There are still ways you can get involved with Afternoon Tea if you would like to, in line with current guidance around social distancing.
If you would like to talk to a member of the team about any concerns you have, please do get in touch by emailing us at afternoontea@breastcancernow.org or give us a call on 0333 20 70 300.
It is so generous of you to want to contribute to help those affected by breast cancer.
Your donation will help to provide support for today and hope for the future. By acting now, together we can make sure that by 2050 everyone diagnosed with breast cancer lives – and is supported to live well.
To make a donation: Support Breast Cancer Now
Thank you for your incredibly kind support.
