Are you known for your fab lab photos, or do you create magical computer models? We want to see your best breast cancer research images!

Winners will have their innovative images promoted widely to the breast cancer research community through Breast Cancer Now and the leading breast cancer journal, Breast Cancer Research.

Opening date: Monday 8 February 2016

Closing date: Friday 6 May 2016

Overall winner and category winners to be announced: Friday 27 May 2016

Any scientific image of breast cancer research can be submitted to the competition. We ask that submitters are affiliated with a research institution or hospital. Entries can be submitted to one of the four categories listed, and each entrant is permitted to submit one image per category.

There are four categories in the competition:

  • Immunofluorescence
  • Histopathology
  • Computer modelling and crystallography
  • Other research images

The images will be judged by Breast Cancer Now’s Scientific Advisory Board at their meeting in May where an overall winner and winner per category will be selected. The board consists of researchers and clinicians from diverse fields ranging from genetics to psychology.

The winning images from each category will be featured on the Breast Cancer Research journal website and may be used in its printed and online marketing material. The overall winner will receive some BioMed Central and Breast Cancer Now goodies, including a bag and T-shirt.

Breast Cancer Research will also feature the overall winner during the award of their Best Selected Speaker prize at the UK Breast Cancer Research Symposium 2016.

The BioMed Central Blog Network will also post a Q&A with the winners of the competition, where they get a chance to expand on their research. Breast Cancer Now will feature winning images on their website and display the images in the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre.
