The Big BRO race involves a bike ride, off-road run and an obstacle course

The Big BRO Race, which started in 2016, is a triathlon with a bit of a twist: 'BRO' stands for Bike, Run, Obstacle. The format has had some tweaking after last year's event and the order will now be Run, Bike, Obstacle, but the name stays the same.

The race starts at The Playground in Barrow, Suffolk with a 4km predominately off-road run, followed by a 24km road bike around a scenic Suffolk route. Participants will then finish with the 1km obstacle route at the purpose built Outdoor Assault Course, which has a total of 25 obstacles to conquer. It's a timed event, so challenge yourselves to beat last year’s time, set a new course record, or just set a personal goal and enjoy the race.

Last year's event raised an incredible £4,500 and event organiser Laura Hudson is hoping to beat that amount with this year's event.

Laura says:

“The event is completely unique; a triathlon with the non-traditional twist of obstacles at the end! It's a true test of endurance, strength and speed.

“This year we are blessed that sponsorship to cover the costs of the race have not come from a corporate source, but rather from a breast cancer survivor who has raised the money with family and friends on JustGiving. [This means] 100% of the entry fee can now be donated to the charity – not many events can say that! So I would urge people to challenge themselves and enter to help me maximise funds raised [on the day].”

The event takes place on Sunday 24 September and is open to both men and women aged 16 and over. To find out more about Big BRO 2017, visit the Big Bro website
