We are delighted to announce the appointment of Catherine Miles as Director of Fundraising.
Catherine joins the newly-launched charity after seven years at Anthony Nolan, where, as Director of Fundraising, she tripled net income, implemented a relationship fundraising approach, built a regular giving programme from scratch and successfully delivered major partnerships such as the Official Charity partner for the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon.
Prior to this, Catherine held a number of significant posts including Deputy Director of Fundraising and Head of Major Gifts at Shelter, and Head of Grants Fundraising at Mencap. With her impressive major donor fundraising background and significant directorial experience, Catherine plays an active role in the sector, including presenting regularly at conferences such as the Institute of Fundraising (IoF) Convention, and was part of the steering group for the Institute of Fundraising and GoodValues’ 2012 report into major gift fundraising practice.
As Director of Fundraising, Catherine will provide executive leadership across Breast Cancer Now’s fundraising directorate and will be responsible for driving the charity’s income generation and supporter growth. She will join the charity next month (Monday 6 June 2016).
Catherine Miles said:
“I’m delighted to be joining Breast Cancer Now. It’s a real time of opportunity for the charity; following the merger of its two legacy organisations, its pioneering work is being built on the enormous generosity of so many wonderful supporters and sector-leading partners.
“I’m very much looking forward to working with the exceptional team to take the charity’s fundraising and influencing to the next level. Breast Cancer Now’s ambition is ultimately to fund the research that will finally stop women dying from breast cancer, and we’ll need everyone’s support to help us get there.”
Baroness Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive at Breast Cancer Now, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome Catherine as our new Director of Fundraising. She brings with her a wealth of experience and an impressive track record in developing fundraising at leading UK charities.
“Our supporters and partners sit at the heart of everything we do; without their magnificent support, our world-class research and vital campaigning simply wouldn’t be possible. Catherine will be a tremendous asset to the charity as we strive to harness their incredible generosity to achieve our ambitious research goals, and I look forward to working with her.”
