Ultra Challenges

Walk, jog or run

Take on an ultra challenge for us in 2023. You can choose to walk, jog or run distances from 25, 50 or 100km. These 15 unique events, hosted by Action Challenge, range from coastal paths, lakesides, well-trodden footpaths and tough hills across England. Whichever challenge you choose, you’ll get our full support all the way including regular rest stops, free food and drink, medics, marshals and a massage, plus plenty of fundraising support.

Winter Walk Ultra Challenge: Two walkers smiling

Winter Walk

Date: 28-29 January 2023

Location: London

Starting & finishing at The Oval Cricket Ground, take in highlights of the Thames, its historic bridges, and many of the Capital’s key landmarks.

Easter 50 Challenge

Date: 1 April 2023

Location: Windsor

From our Windsor Racecourse base camp, looped routes through the Great Park with fantastic views of the Castle, take in some wonderful countryside. 

Ultra Challenges: Isle of Wight

Isle of Wight Challenge

Date: 29-30 April 2023

Location: Isle of Wight

Along the spectacular southern cliffs, past the iconic Needles and up to historic Cowes at the half way stop. Full Island challengers will head onto historic Ventnor.

Jurassic Coast Challenge

Date: 13-14 May 2023

Location: Dorset

Spectacular World Heritage coastline, with a new start in Corfe Castle, the route heads down to Swanage, and along through Lulworth Cove, past Durdle Door, with ups & downs to Weymouth.

Ultra Challenges: London 2 Brighton

London 2 Brighton

Date: 27-28 May 2023

Location: Richmond

Starting at Richmond, you'll pass through wonderful countryside on this classic capital to coast route, finishing at Brighton.

Lake District Challenge

Date: 10-11 June 2023

Location: Lake District

Take on England’s finest countryside at your pace. Take on tough hills, Garburn Pass, Ambleside, a half way point by Lake Windermere, forests, and nature reserves – with some stunning views en route.

Cotswold Ultra Challenge hikers

Cotswold Way Challenge

Date: 24-25 June 2023

Location: Bath

The Cotswold Way Challenge provides a stunning setting with some fantastic views en route and tough hills in between! It’s a Saturday morning start from historic Cirencester, set out on a looped route of footpaths & trails.

Ultra Challenges: Peak District

Peak District Challenge

Date: 8-9 July 2023

Location: Bakewell

The 100km Challenge takes a tough & varied figure of 8 route through Derbyshire's finest scenery and Peaks, and with 50km & 25km challenge options also out of the Bakewell Base Camp.

North Downs 50 Challenge

Date: 22 July 2023

Location: Surrey

The North Downs 50 has returned for 2023. Setting out from our Guilford basecamp, and a looped 50km route which takes in some of the best of the Surrey hills, the North Downs Way, and the surrounding countryside.

South West 50 Challenge

Date: 5 August 2023

Location: Somerset

A new ‘South West’ challenge for 2023 – taking in the first Minehead section of the stunning & famous 630 mile Coastal Path, and with an extensive ‘basecamp’ in the shadows of the impressive Dunster Castle.

South Coast Challenge

Date: 2-3 September 2023

Location: Eastbourne

You can spend a summers day on the beautiful south coast, traversing up Beachy Head over the Seven Sisters and through Brighton. Choose a distance that suits you.

Thames Path Challenge

Date: 9-10 September 2023

Location: London

Take on the Thames Path Challenge following England's greatest river. Most will walk, many will jog, some will run, and all have special reasons to push themselves. 

 

Ultra Challenges Thames Bridge Trek: Participants smile while running

Thames Bridge Trek

Date: 9 September 2023

Location: London

Setting out from Putney Bridge - it's East towards the City, zig-zagging over the array of historic bridges - each with its fascinating story. 25km later, it's a finish line celebration past the majestic Tower Bridge.

Chiltern 50 Challenge

Date: 23 September 2023

Location: Surrey

Passing through nature reserves, forests, and a few hills with great views - it's a route with real variety, and some wonderful scenery - and it's all easily accessible from London.

Ultra Challenge: Halloween Walk medal

Treat yourself to a hair-raising hike around some of the City’s scary streets and historic haunts. Choose your distance, gather your bravest guys & ghouls to make up a team – or go it alone if you dare.
