Join an in-person focus group to help researchers develop resources for women from ethnic minorities to make informed decisions about breast reconstruction.
Reducing barriers to breast reconstruction in a multi-ethnic population
Women from ethnic minority populations can have worse experiences of breast cancer treatment and support. This includes facing barriers to making informed choices around breast reconstruction after a mastectomy.
Researchers are developing resources to support and empower women from different ethnic groups when making decisions around breast reconstruction. They hope it will improve the experiences of people diagnosed with breast cancer, especially those from underserved communities.
They’re holding a focus group to understand the experiences of black women to help develop these resources.

This focus group is open to women from Black African or Caribbean communities.
By sharing your experience, you’ll help the researchers understand how women make choices about breast reconstruction. This will help the researchers develop resources that effectively empower women to make these decisions.
The researchers would like to invite you to an in-person focus group on Tuesday 5 August in Leicester.
At the focus group you’ll discuss questions around breast cancer and mastectomies and how people make decisions. This will help inform the resources the researchers are developing.
If you have any questions or would like to attend, please contact Krishna by emailing kp401@leicester.ac.uk or by calling 07502 596 049.
