Friday 13 June at 11am, Zoom meeting
About
Melanie is a counsellor with a special interest in supporting the wellbeing of individuals and their families as they navigate the complex emotional and relational changes accompanying long-term illness and loss.
She offers a compassionate, relational approach helping individuals stay connected to themselves and others while living through times of profound uncertainty and change. She has been lucky enough to gain extensive experience from working in several hospices, from supporting palliative care patients at home and from private practice.
What to expect
Melanie will explore how and why a diagnosis of secondary breast cancer can change the dynamics of any close relationship; and how loved ones can often face many of the same kinds of emotional challenges that someone with a diagnosis can experience. We’ll talk about how to have difficult conversations with loved ones and how being open and honest can be beneficial to a relationship (whilst acknowledging that this is not always possible!).
You’ll be invited to share your experiences if you’re comfortable to, and ask questions. Melanie will share tips and advice, and talk about where you and your loved ones can access further support.
