Thank you for registering for Younger Women with Secondaries Together online. We’re really looking forward to meeting you when you join us for your event. To help you get ready, we’ve compiled a list of common questions and answers.

How do I use Zoom?

We’ve put together a detailed guide to using Zoom and the other technology you’ll need to attend your Younger Women with Secondaries Together online.

What can I expect?

Our online event gives you the chance to meet women who understand what you're going through and get information on living with secondary breast cancer. You’ll get to ask questions of our secondary breast cancer clinical nurse specialist. An experienced counsellor will also discuss adjusting to a life-limiting illness and will lead a session on mindfulness.

Here’s a sample of an online 3-week programme:

  • Week 1: Get to know each other and connect
  • Week 2: Q&A with our secondary breast cancer clinical nurse specialist
  • Week 3: Our experienced counsellor will help you think about adjusting to a life-limiting illness and then lead a mindfulness session to close the event

Do I have to speak or go on camera?

If you can, we'd like you to keep your camera on because it helps everyone feel more connected. If there isn’t a camera on your computer, don’t worry.

We'll also invite you to speak to introduce yourself and ask any questions and also contribute to group discussions if you feel comfortable doing so.

Are the events confidential?

Yes. The facilitator will help create a safe environment for everyone to be as open as they want to be and we ask all group members to keep the discussions confidential.

Are online sessions accessible?

If you need more support from us to take part in our services, we’ll do our best to make reasonable adjustments. If you need further assistance, contact us at secondaryservices@breastcancernow.org or call us on 0345 077 1893.

What do other people say about Younger Women with Secondaries Together?

I didn't expect for my thoughts, feelings and experiences to be so similar to others. It made me feel validated and that what I'm feeling is ok.

Do I have to attend all the sessions?

We hope you can join each session, but we understand if you can’t make one week for various reasons.

What if I can't make a session?

If you can’t make a session for any reason, please let us know you won't make it by calling 0345 077 1893 or emailing us at secondaryservices@breastcancernow.org. If we don't hear from you we may be in touch to check you are OK. We can also let you know the dates of the next event if you want to reschedule to attend those dates instead.

You are very welcome to continue coming to the other week sessions.

Will my employer give me time off to attend?

If you're working, your employer should allow you time to attend. Please contact us if you're experiencing any difficulties, and we can provide you with a letter to give to them.

I have another question, can you help?
