About Carolyn Garritt

Carolyn Garritt is a personal trainer and has worked as a self-employed Cancer Exercise Specialist since 2013. She runs regular exercise sessions with Maggies Cancer Support Centres and Breast Cancer Now and teaches Nordic walking, running, strength training, chair-based exercise and boxing.

She is the author of ‘Get your oomph back – a guide to exercise after a cancer diagnosis’ and is now publishing ‘Hormone positive’ for anyone affected by cancer and menopause, on Substack.

She has a growing not-for-profit online community – the Big Strong Lasses – who are all weight training, on zoom after a diagnosis of breast cancer. Carolyn is also a trustee of the charity Flat Friends, who offer support for women undergoing mastectomy without reconstruction.

She is a keen, but slow, park runner and an Ambassador for 5K Your Way (Move Against Cancer). Carolyn was diagnosed with an early, high-grade lobular breast cancer during the covid lockdown and has been in the various stages of menopause ever since. In 2025 she reached her 5-year cancerversary.
