Top tips for hosting a dress down day

  • Get permission: wherever you’re dressing down, make sure you ask whoever’s in charge for permission. And if you’re feeling adventurous, why not see if you can give your day a theme? Ask everyone to come in pink, in pyjamas or even fancy dress!
  • Pick a date: pick a date where lots of people will be around to make the most of your fundraising, then spread the word. Send round an email, post on your company’s intranet or talk about it in a meeting.  Or if you’re fundraising at school, why not do a shout out in assembly? Make sure you send a reminder a couple of days before too.
  • Set up a JustGiving page: it’s quick to set up, easy to donate to and the money will come straight to us so you won’t have to worry about paying in. You could display a QR code on posters on the day to make it even simpler to contribute. Looking to collect cash donations? Get in touch with us at community@breastcancernow.org or on 0207 025 2425 for a collection tin.
  • Add a bit extra: get in touch for some extra decorations such as balloons, banners and posters. And why not add a little more to your total by holding a raffle, bake sale or quiz on the day too? Make sure you check out our handy guides to these.

Working in an office? See if your employer offers matched funding - you could as much as double your fundraising total and make even more of a difference for people affected by breast cancer. Drop us an email at community@breastcancernow.org if you want to find out more.
