Thank you People’s Postcode Lottery players

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £15 million* for us since 2018.

In the UK, every 10 minutes, someone hears the devastating words, “you have breast cancer”.

This vital funding awarded through Postcode Care Trust, is helping us do more to support people living with breast cancer and their loved ones.

From helping us produce and distribute our free health information, to developing support service innovations, Postcode Lottery players are helping us be there for people facing breast cancer when they need us most.

Players’ support helps us to be there

Kendra was diagnosed with primary breast cancer in 2020 when she volunteered to take part in a women’s health screening programme. With no prior health concerns and at the height of the pandemic, her diagnosis came as a huge shock.

“The day the doctor told me I had cancer I didn’t hear anything else. Just those words. It was the middle of the pandemic, and I felt isolated and really scared.”

Following her mastectomy, Kendra is now living beyond breast cancer. She’ll be taking to the catwalk as People’s Postcode Lottery model this year in The Show by Breast Cancer Now. She wants to use this opportunity to highlight the importance of breast screening and to encourage more families to talk about cancer, especially within her community.

“In the Caribbean culture this kind of thing is just not talked about. We need to break that cycle, stop things like this being taboo."

Kendra adds: “I can’t stress how much Breast Cancer Now has helped me. Even now, I still use the resources. As much as I have fantastic support from my family, it always feels like coming home when I go on the website - because it’s been so supportive.

"The funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery is helping Breast Cancer Now provide these services and means that more people like me can access them. I’m so grateful and honoured to be People’s Postcode Lottery model this year.”
