Complete a survey to help researchers develop a short screening tool to help healthcare professionals plan personalised and effective support provided to people with cancer.

What’s the project about?

It is a priority in the UK that every person diagnosed with cancer has access to personalised care and support. Some people will need more support than others to manage their illness and its treatment, and to maximise their health and wellbeing.

Researchers are developing a short screening tool that can be used by healthcare professionals to quickly created tailored support for people diagnosed with breast cancer.

They’re developed the first version of the screening questions, and want to test them to make sure they work well.

Who’s organising it?

Name of project lead: Dr Jane Frankland

Job title: Senior Research Fellow

Organisation: Centre for Psychosocial Research in Cancer (CentRIC), University of Southampton

Email address: perscare@soton.ac.uk

Who can take part?

You can take part if you’ve had a personal diagnosis of breast cancer, including:

  • DCIS

  • Stage 1, 2 or 3 primary breast cancer

  • A local or regional recurrence of primary breast cancer

  • Metastatic breast cancer

Why do you want me to be involved?

By getting involved, you can help make sure that the screening tool creates effective tailored support for people. This could improve care and support for people with breast cancer in the UK.

What will you ask me to do?

The study involves completing an anonymous online questionnaire. The researchers will use the information from the questionnaire to test whether the tool is working well.

You will be asked a few questions about quality of life and wellbeing. You will also be asked some questions about you, such as your age and type of cancer. The questionnaire will take about 10 to 15 minutes.

You do not need to complete it all at once. If you leave the questionnaire without completing it, or if you return to it on the same device and browser within 7 days, you can continue from your last question.

At the end of the questionnaire, you will be asked if you are willing to be involved in further testing as part of an online interview. If you’d like to take part in an interview, you’ll be asked for your name and contact details, and your answer will no longer be anonymous.

How do I get involved?

Please complete the online survey. You'll be asked to read the participant information sheet and complete eligibility and consent questions before starting.

When’s the deadline?
