What's the project about?
Breast Cancer Now run several services for people living with secondary (metastatic) breast cancer:
- Living with Secondary Breast Cancer
- Younger Women with Secondaries Together
- Speakers Live: Secondary Breast Cancer
- We’ll also be testing a new one-to-one peer support service soon
We're moving away from the term 'secondary' in favour of 'metastatic' across our communications. This reflects how metastatic breast cancer is talked about in healthcare, research and in the breast cancer community.
Renaming our services is one of the most visible parts of this change. The name of a service is often the first thing someone sees when they're looking for support, so we want to find the best names for our services.
We’re asking your opinion on some proposed names for our secondary services. You can help us make sure they’re welcoming and clear for people living with metastatic breast cancer.

Who can take part?
You can take part if you’re living with metastatic breast cancer. You don’t have to have used any of our services.
Why do you want me to be involved?
By completing the survey, you can help us choose names for our services which are clear and welcoming, and that resonate with people living with metastatic breast cancer. This will encourage more people to use our services and get support to live well.
What will you ask me to do?
We’d like you to complete an online survey. We'll ask for your views on the emotional safety, clarity and inclusivity of different names, words and phrases. The survey should take around 15 minutes to complete and is anonymous.
At the end of the survey, you’ll be able to say whether you’d be interested in joining a focus group to share your views in more detail.
