Attend an online event to hear about the results of the FAST-Forward trial, which looked to reduce the amount radiotherapy people get, and how it’s improving treatment for patients.

What’s the project about?

The FAST-Forward Trial looked at a shorter way to give radiotherapy for breast cancer. Instead of the usual 15 sessions over three weeks, it testing giving just five sessions in one week.

The five-year results were released at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This helped many people continue their treatment safely, without delays or interruptions. In May 2021, the one-week treatment was added to UK guidelines and is now used in other countries.

Participants have now completed 10 years of follow-up after treatment and the long-term findings are now available.

The research team are holding an online event on Thursday 25 June to share the results. They will explain the results in an easy-to-understand way and discuss what the results may mean for patients and future care. There will also be time for questions.
