Your impact: September to November 2025

You're making a difference in our work and in breast cancer research, support and care across the UK. Here are the different projects you've been part of.

Emily Agius

Strategy goal groups, Breast Cancer Now

“Having voices on the goal groups, with staff and other professionals, was new for the strategy, and an important layer of involvement. Voices helped to keep us on track and brought us back to why we're here, and what we're in the world to do."

“We couldn't have developed such a bold, ambitious and determined strategy without the contribution of Breast Cancer Voices throughout. Through groups and workshops, Voices helped to highlight what was important, what needed to be fixed, and Breast Cancer Now's role in making that happen.”

Neharika Puligundla

Supporting mental health for people with primary breast cancer, University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian

“I have had a wonderful experience engaging with Breast Cancer Voices. The initial interest expressed is beyond what I anticipated and the contributions and level of engagement has been wonderful!"

“Your feedback had a meaningful impact on the development of this project. Your involvement has made the project more participant-centred, transparent, and supportive. The study materials now better reflect the values of compassion, respect, and empowerment that are central to cancer care research. Thank you for your time, care, and thoughtful contributions, they have had a direct and lasting impact on the quality and sensitivity of this research.”

The response was fantastic. Having this number of responses meant we could identify patterns in what people were saying and incorporate these into our health information update. The contributions to the hair loss survey also provided us with some fantastic quotes to make our hair loss information more relatable.

Greg Kotronoulas

Breast Cancer and wellbeing in Scotland, University of Glasgow

“3 Voices supported my research grant submission. They thoroughly and enthusiastically read the proposal and offered valuable advice. I was glad to have people who were firm in terms of what the project should aim to achieve – it made the project stronger and more meaningful."

“Two Voices agreed to support the project as collaborators, and all of them have now indicated they are keen to help out to revise the grant for resubmission. The reviewers highly praised the patient involvement in our grant – and all this was thanks to support from Voices.”

Alessandra Wayman

Corporate partnerships strategy event, Breast Cancer Now

“The 2 Voices that joined were the perfect way to end our event with our corporate partners. They were fantastic speakers and authentically connected with our audience. They brought home the how the strategy will change what it's like to be diagnosed with breast cancer and how people living with breast cancer are at the heart of our work and strategy.

“I loved their final comment, it hit the nail on the head: 'Breast Cancer Now is the hug you didn't know you needed'."

It was great to have voices in the room at the event - we wanted to launch the new ghd collection with our community in the room. it was lovely to hear them share stories with each other and with us, and also to spoil them on the day with their own ghd tools. We wouldn't have been able to host the same event without them, it's much more special and really highlights the importance of the ghd campaign.

A focus group about life after treatment for ER-positive breast cancer, University of Stirling

“The Voices community was the bulk of our participants, and made a huge difference to our project. Having access to a community of people who are explicitly willing to take part in research was absolutely instrumental in allowing our project to go ahead. The Breast Cancer Voices were all wonderful to work with, and made a big difference to our project.”
