I was diagnosed with stage 3 aggressive HER2 positive breast cancer in January 2010.
I would describe myself as a positive person – I’ve had to be
I had a right mastectomy and full lymph nodes clearance. I had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and Herceptin, which took almost 2 years to complete.
Unfortunately, in March 2023 I was also diagnosed with ovarian cancer and had to have a full hysterectomy. I’m getting back to health now, but it’s been a difficult time for me and my family.
The Breast Cancer Now support services I used when I was diagnosed with breast cancer were crucial for me
Speaking on the phone and attending Moving Forward events were a massive help. They helped me cope day to day.
In 2016, I was a model in The Show in Glasgow. It was one of the best days of my life. I met friends for life and it made me feel like a princess – to walk down the catwalk with my fellow survivors was uplifting and emotional. What a day!
It’s very important to Wear It Pink, it raises awareness and is a fantastic fundraising day
I’ve done numerous fundraising events for Breast Cancer Now.
Everything from afternoon teas, to bucket collections and of course, Wear It Pink. This year, I dressed up in pink at my work and we raised £240!
My top tip for people taking part in Wear It Pink is to enjoy the day, don’t stress and just do what you can. You’re helping to raise awareness which is the most important thing.
