  • What is wear it pink day?

Wear it pink day is Breast Cancer Now’s flagship fundraising event. We ask people across the UK to hold a pink ‘dress down’ or ‘dress up’ day at work, at school or in your community. Everyone wears something pink and makes a donation to Breast Cancer Now.

Some people also hold a cake sale, organise a raffle, arrange a pink fancy dress competition or anything else that will help raise more money for breast cancer research and support. Whatever you do, do it in pink!

You can find new ideas and downloadable materials on our website to help you raise even more money – so keep popping back to see what’s new!

  • Can I pay in my money at any bank?

You can order a paying in slip to pay in cash at the bank. However, there are certain restrictions when using our paying in slips.

    • They will usually be accepted at Barclays, which is our recommended option
    • They should also be accepted at your own bank
    • They will not be accepted at the Post Office
    • They will not be accepted at building societies

We strongly recommend calling the bank first to confirm if they will accept the paying in slip (ours are referred to as a ‘ABC slip’) to avoid a wasted journey.

We also suggest you use the Barclays branch finder tool to check the opening hours of your local branch and counter service (the counter service hours may be different to the branch opening hours)

Please consider alternative ways to pay in such as paying the money into your own account and then paying on our website or sending us a cheque.

If you have any questions about using the paying in slip or other ways to pay in your fundraising, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can email us or call 0333 20 70 300.

  • Can I pay in my money by post?

Yes, you can send us a cheque, but please do not send us cash.

Post your cheque made payable to Breast Cancer Now to 'Freepost WEAR IT PINK' (no other address line is needed). Please mention wear it pink and include your contact details as well as your wear it pink registration number.

You can also pay in your fundraising online.

Thank you so much for fundraising for wear it pink, we really appreciate your support.

  • Will I get a certificate that I can put up at work, school or my club?

Absolutely! Certificates will be posted out after your wear it pink day and can take around 2 weeks to arrive.

If you’d like anything specific on your certificate, or more copies please do let us know by popping us an email.

  • What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a brilliant way of increasing the value of your donation and it doesn’t cost you a penny. All you have to do is check if you’re eligible, give us your permission and we’ll do the rest.

Breast Cancer Now will be able to claim 25p for every £1 that your guests donate. The additional support will help fund our vital work, making a difference to the lives of even more people affected by breast cancer.

To add Gift Aid to their donation, your guests must be a UK taxpayer. If they pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all their donations, it is their responsibility to pay any difference.

If you are the wear it pink day organiser, please remember that every individual donation must be added to the form along with the donor’s details and their permission to Gift Aid. They must provide their full name, house number and postcode (home address only please), as well as the date.

And remember that we can’t claim Gift Aid if your guests are paying for a raffle, an auction, or if there’s a fixed price in return for goods, such as cakes at a bake sale. If you’d like to raise money through baked goods, you can suggest a donation instead of charging a set price and we’re able to claim Gift Aid on the voluntary donation.

So, remember to put yourGift Aid formalongside your collection box and encourage everyone who donates to your wear it pink day to tick the box if they can Gift Aid their donation.

To find out more about Gift Aid, visit the HMRC website.

If you have any questions about Gift Aid, contact our Supporter Care team by emailing hello@breastcancernow.org or by phoning 0333 20 70 300.

  • What is matched funding?

Many companies will support their employees’ charity of choice by offering to match the funds raised. Please ask your employer as it’s a fantastic way to boost your fundraising efforts, and it helps us fund even more research and support. Read more about matched funding.

  • Where do wear it pink donations go?

We don’t receive any government funding, so it’s only thanks to the generosity of supporters that we can carry out our life-changing work.

From research to support, our charity has people affected by breast cancer at its heart – providing support for today and hope for the future. The money raised by wearing it pink could help fund a potentially life-saving research breakthrough, provide even more life-changing support, and help us campaign even more effectively for better services and care.

Our vision is that, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live, and be supported to live well.

Find out more about our work.

  • Can I buy wear it pink merchandise?
