From signing up to how to pay in your fantastic fundraising, we cover it all in answers to our frequently asked questions.
What is wear it pink day?
Wear it pink day is Breast Cancer Now’s flagship fundraising event. We ask people across the UK to hold a pink ‘dress down’ or ‘dress up’ day at work, at school or in your community. Everyone wears something pink and makes a donation to Breast Cancer Now.
Some people also hold a cake sale, organise a raffle, arrange a pink fancy dress competition or anything else that will help raise more money for breast cancer research and support. Whatever you do, do it in pink!

There are a number of ways that you can pay in your donation to us at Breast Cancer Now. Please choose one of the following:
Bank – If you registered and received a fundraising pack, just take the money to any high street bank (we recommend Barclays) with your paying in slip. If you don’t have a paying slip, just give us a ring and we’ll get one sent out to you – 0333 20 70 300.
Online – You can pay by credit or debit card.
Phone – Just call your wear it pink team to pay by credit or debit card on 0333 20 70 300.

Please include your paying in slip or a note with your details (name and postcode) and mention that you wore it pink!
However you choose to pay in your donation, don’t forget to email us a photo of your Gift Aid form, or post it to: ‘Freepost, wear it pink’ (no other address line needed) if applicable.
Can I pay in my money at any bank?
Yes, many banks will accept the paying-in slip in your fundraising pack (we recommend Barclays). Please only use this Breast Cancer Now paying-in slip, NOT the bank’s own paying-in slip, so we can acknowledge safe receipt of your funds and send you a thank you certificate. You cannot pay in your money at the Post Office.
If you have lost your paying-in slip, please just call 0333 20 70 300 and we’ll send you a replacement.

What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a brilliant way of increasing the value of your donation and it doesn’t cost you a penny. All you have to do is check if you’re eligible, give us your permission and we’ll do the rest.
Breast Cancer Now will be able to claim 25p for every £1 that your guests donate. The additional support will help fund our vital work, making a difference to the lives of even more people affected by breast cancer.
To add Gift Aid to their donation, your guests must be a UK taxpayer. If they pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all their donations, it is their responsibility to pay any difference.
If you are the wear it pink day organiser, please remember that every individual donation must be added to the form along with the donor’s details and their permission to Gift Aid. They must provide their full name, house number and postcode (home address only please), as well as the date.
And remember that we can’t claim Gift Aid if your guests are paying for a raffle, an auction, or if there’s a fixed price in return for goods, such as cakes at a bake sale.
So, remember to put your Gift Aid form alongside your collection box and encourage everyone who donates to your wear it pink day to tick the box if they can Gift Aid their donation.
To find out more about Gift Aid, visit the HMRC website.
What is matched funding?
Many companies will support their employees’ charity of choice by offering to match the funds raised. Please ask your employer as it’s a fantastic way to boost your fundraising efforts, and it helps us fund even more research and support. Read more about matched funding.
