Helena is a dentist from Newport who lives with her 23-year-old son Josh. She is a fitness fanatic who frequently works out with a personal trainer as well as running a few times a week.
Helena used to run half marathons before her secondary breast cancer diagnosis in 2021, but unfortunately they’re no longer on the cards. At least, not right now. Nonetheless, Helena feels strongly that her commitment to keeping fit has definitely helped with her treatment, even though in the beginning, simply walking felt difficult. Nowadays she has a PHESGO® injection every 3 weeks and continues to push herself to meet whatever goals she sets herself - fitness or otherwise.

What research are we doing into secondary breast cancer?
Secondary breast cancer occurs when breast cancer cells spread from the first (primary) breast cancer in the breast, through the lymphatic or blood system, to other parts of the body.
Our researchers are here working to buy more time for people with secondary breast cancer.
