As some of our 800-plus volunteers meet up this month at conferences across the UK here’s what our volunteers say about volunteering with Breast Cancer Care.
When people are worried upset or just want to mull things over with someone who understands what they’re going through talking on the phone isn’t always the best option. We know some people prefer the anonymity of email or they find it easier to write their feelings down rather than talk about them.
Our first ever Ribbonride took off in sunshine at Blenheim Palace on Sunday 12 May. One hundred and twenty-five cyclists headed out on a 26 or 60-mile route from the stunning grounds led through the Cotswolds by the Breast Cancer Care Cycling Team.
Actress Angelina Jolie has written a personal account of being told she has a fault in her BRCA1 gene and her decision to have a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction to reduce her risk of developing breast cancer.
Writing in the New York Times she says she was told by her doctors that the defect in her BRCA1 gene raised her individual chances of developing breast cancer to 87%.
With final preparations in full swing for our brand new cycling event on Sunday - the Blenheim Palace Ribbonride - it’s been an exciting and busy week for our Events team.
Volunteers are the heart of Breast Cancer Care. They’re vital to our services and fundraising – from helping out at events to delivering support to people with breast cancer.
