Change Happens Now: Our strategy 2025-30
Our strategy sets out how we’ll go further, faster over the next 5 years. And how we’ll make the biggest possible difference for everyone affected by breast cancer.
The scale of the problem
Breast cancer is far from a done deal. It still takes and rips apart far too many lives. A woman develops breast cancer every 9 minutes, and a man every day. With 25 years to go until we achieve our vision – of everyone with breast cancer living and living well – the need has never been greater.
The changes we want to see
Our strategy is built around 3 visionary goals. These are the changes we want to see in the world. And for each one, we’ve set out what we’ll do to make it happen.
-
Quicker, earlier diagnosis to save and improve lives
Early diagnosis saves lives. But right now, too many people are diagnosed late. That means too few people living and living well. This needs to change. And we’re going to make it happen.
-
Everyone getting the best care and support
Around 890,000 people in the UK are living with or beyond breast cancer. But too many can’t get the best treatment, care and emotional support. This needs to change. And we’re going to make it happen.
-
New and better treatments that pave the way for cures
Too many current treatments have long-term side effects. There aren’t enough treatments for metastatic breast cancer – and still no cure. This needs to change. And we’re going to make it happen.
Our game-changers
Our game-changers are our big focus areas. They’re what we’ll spend most of our time on. And where we’ll invest extra money to fast-track progress. Because they’re the things we think will make the biggest difference for people with breast cancer over the next 5 years.

Shifting the dial on metastatic breast cancer awareness
We’ll make sure everyone finishing treatment gets the knowledge they need to spot recurrence.

Support for everyone, anytime, anywhere
We’ll be more visible, accessible and approachable for everyone, whenever they need us.

Showing up in every hospital and healthcare setting
We’ll be present wherever breast cancer services are provided, with champions in every setting.

Supercharging progress on recurrence and metastasis
We’ll double what we spend on research, with a focus on dormancy and late recurrence.

Focusing on the areas with the worst outcomes
We'll improve access to treatment and care by focusing on the 20% of areas with the worst outcomes.
