What is Someone Like Me?

You never have to face breast cancer alone. With Someone Like Me, you can find somebody who understands what you’re going through. We’ll match you with a trained volunteer who’s had a similar experience to you. They'll be a phone call or email away to answer your questions, offer support or simply listen to whatever you need to talk about. Because there’s nothing like finding someone who really understands.

Is this for me?

Someone Like Me is for you if:

  • You have or had primary breast cancer
  • You're having genetic tests done or have a genetic diagnosis
  • You're a partner, family member or friend of someone affected by primary breast cancer

What you can expect

We'll match you to a volunteer who has gone through a similar experience. Whether it's related to a specific diagnosis, treatment choices, or simply someone of a similar age or with similar personal circumstances who understands how you may be feeling.

Your volunteer will:

  • Listen without judgement
  • Offer emotional support and practical tips
  • Share their own experiences with you
  • Support you if you need to make choices that are right for you
  • Be there for you if you just need someone to talk to

How does it work?

You can talk to a volunteer on the phone or by email.

Phone support

If you'd like to talk to a volunteer by phone, you can register by either:

After you register, our team will be in touch to talk to you about your situation and match you with someone who's right for you. We'll then arrange a convenient time for the volunteer to call you.

The phone support line is available Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm, and Friday from 9am to 4pm.
