The coronavirus has left breast cancer facing its biggest crisis in decades.
It paused research. Put screening programmes on hold. Delayed diagnosis. Resulted in a significant reduction in cancer referrals.
It all means unless we act now, we risk progress stalling and hope being reduced for people affected by breast cancer.
There is no time to pause
No time for delays. No time to wait. We can’t let the pauses in research, diagnosis, treatment and care potentially risk lives.
Autumn’s Spending Review (SR) will set out the Government’s short term spending plans on health. We’re calling on the Government to commit funding for breast cancer in the SR so we can:
Press play on a secondary breast cancer audit
To give us the missing insight to ensure the NHS can meet the needs of those living with secondary breast cancer.
Press play on recruiting and training more NHS staff
To deal with delays and backlogs and provide care and support to those who need it most.
Email your MP
We need you to call on the Government to commit funding for breast cancer in the Spending Review (SR).
The Treasury are the final decision makers on what gets funding in the SR. By asking your Member of Parliament to influence them, you’ll be giving hope for people affected by breast cancer.
We are only asking people to contact MPs in English constituencies. Any specific funding commitments secured in the UK Government’s Spending Review are likely to impact only on England.
