Breast Reconstruction Nurses Network (BRNN)

1. Purpose of the group

  • To bring together healthcare professionals with a passion and interest in developing their knowledge of breast reconstruction
  • To learn and share best practice and different models of working
  • To improve and standardise care and support for all women who are considering or undergoing breast reconstruction
  • To promote provision of good quality patient information, resources and clinical pathways
  • To work with Breast Cancer Now’s policy and campaigns team to improve equity of access to women considering breast reconstruction options so that every woman has equal access to the right surgery for them at the correct time
  • To provide peer support and networking opportunities for those supporting breast reconstruction patients

2. Membership

The BRNN is open to Breast Cancer Now healthcare professionals hub members who:

  • Are a breast care nurse, breast clinical nurse specialist, breast reconstruction nurse specialist or any registered nurse or allied health care professional who works with breast reconstruction patients
  • Are interested in developing their clinical skills required for working with this group of patients

3. Benefits and opportunities of membership

  • To hear from expert speakers about topics that are pertinent for women who are considering or undergoing breast reconstruction
  • To have the opportunity to improve the services provided in your hospital trust for women who are considering or undergoing breast reconstruction
  • To network with others working in similar roles
  • To have the opportunity to be an external reviewer of our health information

4. Meetings and updates

  • The group meets 4 times a year 
  • The meetings include presentations, time for questions and networking time 
  • We will record meetings and send recordings to those unable to attend
  • Attendance is voluntary
  • We send out email updates to the group every 6 weeks
