1. Purpose of the group
- To bring together healthcare professionals with a passion and interest in developing their knowledge of survivorship following a diagnosis of primary breast cancer
- To learn and share expertise, discuss emerging research, and promote evidence-based practices that support long-term recovery, wellbeing, and quality of life after treatment for primary breast cancer
- To improve and tailor care and support for those who are under follow up to ensure that they receive comprehensive, coordinated, and person-centred survivorship care
- To promote provision of good quality patient information, resources and follow up pathways
- To work with Breast Cancer Now’s policy and campaigns team providing expertise and improving survivorship care for those who have completed active treatment for primary breast cancer
- To provide peer support and networking opportunities for those supporting patients under follow up
- Support continuous professional development through education, discussion, and shared learning opportunities related to survivorship after primary breast cancer
- To share information and support from Breast Cancer Now for this patient group
2. Membership
The Living Beyond Primary Breast Cancer special interest group is open to Breast Cancer Now healthcare professional hub members who:
- Are a breast care nurse, breast clinical nurse specialist, or any registered nurse or allied health care professional who works with primary breast cancer patients under follow up
- Are interested in developing their clinical skills required for working with this group of patients
3. Benefits and opportunities of membership
- To hear from expert speakers about topics that are pertinent to survivorship after treatment for primary breast cancer
- To have the opportunity to improve the services provided in your hospital trust for people who are under follow up care
- To network with others working in similar roles
- To have the opportunity to be an external reviewer of our health information
4. Meetings and updates
- The group meets 4 times a year
- The meetings include presentations, time for questions and networking time
- We will record meetings and send recordings to those unable to attend
- Attendance is voluntary
- We send out email updates to the group every 2 months
